Letters & Colors Singapore / Manila

We just finished another sold out session of Letters & Colors. I’m still chuckling because the last thing I ever thought of when I started working with Abbey Sy is a collab. We were always busy going about our deadlines together but we had very different styles and palettes.

But I guess, we agree on principles like embracing your own style and workflow. This is what we always share during workshops and this November, we’re taking it to Singapore with the following class schedules:

For the LETTERS & COLORS CLASS, we will be covering the following topics complete with demonstrations & exercises

1. Alphabet Building
2. Creating Lay-outs
3. Creating Infinite Colors with a 12 Watercolor Set
4. Palette Building
5. Applying Colors to Lay-outs
5. Guided Project Making

Here’s the wall of sample artworks from the workshop. It’s finally nice to see them all side by side after working on deadline after deadline and sleeping at around 3am on most nights! :O *OMG*

I just finished turning over a good chunk of my latest projects so it’s just really nice to sit back, blog & pour my thoughts on this blog. I really miss doing this!

Looking back though, I believe I learned a lot about lay-outs, discovered more colors and learned to chase deadlines more efficiently and also acknowledging and forgiving myself for my limitations thanks to le officemate Abbehh.

Speaking of discovering more colors, here’s our workshop participant Riri playing with her Faber-Castell 12 Watercolor Set. By the way, here are the materials for the Letters & Colors Class:

Here’s our tandem demo table. It looks like it’s been set up but that’s how scattered our stuff are when we work. Hahaha. Below is a sneak peek of Abbey’s demo. Yes, when I have the time, I do love lurking around with a camera during the workshop & checking people’s work through my lens instead. :)

The rest of the photos are our workshop participants’ worksheets using Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens in Small & Medium Tips.

One thing that gives lettering work additional depth is tracing over the final work with a fine liner. :)

We also shared our Faber-Castell Classic & Polychromos Colored Pencils during the workshop so participants can explore which medium they’re most comfortable with aside from watercolor. 🙂
